The game of International draughts, also known as Continental Checkers is played on a board that is 10 squares wide and 10 squares deep. But only half of the board is played on (just the dark-coloured squares are used, as you can see in the picture). The pieces are moved diagonally. International draughts is in the genre of abstract strategy and Board game. It has developed over thousands of years and has had many changes over time. There are also many similar variations of the game, two well-known variations are listed below:
- One is called checkers, 8-by-8 draughts or russian checkers, but there are a lot of other names for this type of draughts.
- Another Type of the game is called Canadian Draughts, and is played on a board with one-hundred-and-fourty-four (144) squares. On this board, there are thirty pieces.
